Amir Ibrahim Adamu is an accomplished payments systems and financial inclusion expert with over a decade of progressive experience at the Central Bank of Nigeria. He has played a key role in shaping the nation’s digital payments landscape through his leadership in policy formulation, oversight, and compliance within the Payments System Management Department. Amir has worked extensively with international development partners, including the World Bank Group, International Monetary Fund, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to advance financial inclusion and strengthen regulatory frameworks for fintechs, banks, and other payment service providers. He has also led strategic initiatives in risk management, AML/CFT compliance, and the modernization of payment infrastructure across Nigeria. He holds an MSc in Project Management from the University of Salford, UK, a B.A. in Economics from Bayero University Kano and is pursuing a PhD in Public Governance & Leadership at the University of Abuja. Amir is also a graduate of the University of Oxford Fintech Programme and holds multiple executive certifications from the University of Cambridge and the IMF Institute for Capacity Building.
